Fairfax Resolves honored Bob Rosenbaum as its 2009 Citizen of the Year at the December Meeting and Social held at Vinson Hall. Bob was honored for sharing his time and musical talent with seniors every week for over 22 years at the Lewinsville Adult Day Health Care Center. Residents of Vinson Hall know Bob as "The Piano Man" too, from his piano playing and sing-a-longs at various times around Vinson Hall.

Following the award presentation, Bob treated those present to a short medley of favorite Christmas tunes. The musicians of the Chapter were surprised to note that Bob learned to play his repertoire by ear.

His nomination reads, "He blesses the participants with familiar tunes by his energetic piano playing. After opening presentations, he actively engages everyone in a sing-a-long as he accompanies on the piano the songs that are most requested by our participants. After about twenty minutes of sing-a-long, he continues to play other familiar tunes for an additional forty minutes…Afterwards, Bob mingles with our seniors, telling jokes, sharing stories, and engages in personal conversations with every one of them during snack time, often staying an additional half hour or more."

A nice article was written in the McLean Connection. You can view the article here or on the Fairfax Resolves publicity page.
